Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi is one of the four star Everton players that modelled the club’s new dashing new pink away shirt for the 2022-23 season.
An introduction video on Twitter displayed Everton women’s star Izzy Christiansen with Seamus Coleman, Alex Iwobi and Vitaliy Mykolen all sporting the new threads.
The Toffees fresh change shirt is an eye-catching “rosebloom” pink with a dark blue geometric print. It pays tribute to the iconic Prince Rupert’s Tower, seen on the club badge.
The shirt is complemented by a round blue neckline, with a pink trim.
But many on social media were dismayed by the announcement.
One said: “Not for me I am afraid, a bold move to go for pink but will be ridiculed by our opposition fans.”
Another claimed: “Embarrassing how bad that is. I’m not against Pink kits, that’s just a stinker.”
And one supporter added: “Obsessed with being different only us ever running round in pink kits does me head in.”
Although some fans thought it could be a winner.
One user compared it to a retro favourite, worn for the first year of the Premier League in 1993-94.
They tweeted: “People moaning about pink? Do they not remember our salmon pink just in the 90s?
“Literally one of our most iconic well thought of kits now.”
