The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command is presently collaborating with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) to combat vandals in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Osun State Command, ASCII Atanda Olabisi revealed that energy theft and vandalism has resulted in losses and liquidity challenges, which has affected the efficiency of the power and energy sector in the country.

Speaking further, the Osun State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Agboola Sunday stated that the collaboration with IBEDC is aimed at ending energy theft and vandalism in the power sector.

Agboola further reiterated the commitment of the command to combat the cankerworm of energy theft and vandalism in the state, while warning criminals to desist from such wicked acts.

He said, “Hard times await those who willfully destroy the country’s national assets and infrastructure. Our Corps shall go all out to fish vandals out of their hideouts in the state to face the consequences of their action”.

Mr. Agboola, however, admonished the indigenes of the State to remain vigilant and report cases of vandalism to the Command or any of the offices of the Corps nearest to them for prompt response.

Responding, the Osun Regional Head of IBEDC Engr. Adeniyi Adeleke appreciated the support of the security agency in the fight against vandalism and energy theft in the state, revealing that IBEDC has the largest geographical coverage among electricity distributors in the country.

He further attributed vandalism, energy theft and related vices as the major setbacks militating against quality services delivery to customers.
