A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Dare Adeleke has come out strongly against the Chairman of the party’s National Working Committee, Senator Iyorchia Ayu for tagging members who demanded for his resignation as ‘children’.
Hon. Adeleke, who is one of the closest aides of Oyo’s Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, said Senator Ayu is not an honourable man and has no integrity because before he was elected as the National Chairman of the party, he promised to resign if a northerner emerged as the presidential candidate of the party.
“Ayu seems not to be mindful that the party is heading for crisis but he is more concerned with holding on to the position of the chairman. He made a promise to step down if a northerner becomes the presidential candidate of the party. He has shown that he has no iota of integrity,” Adeleke said.
Speaking further, Adeleke, who is the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Pacesetters Transport Company, lampooned the former Senate President for regarding some prominent members of the party as children while clarifying that most of those he referred to as children were founding members of the party.
“The outburst of Senator Ayu calling members children shows that he is incapable of simple rule of relationship. The fact that he is older than other members doesn’t mean he is the only founding father of PDP.
“I make bold to say that like me, most of the people he called children were founding members of the party as well,” he added.
He, however, described Governor Nyesom Wike of River State as a strong pillar of the party who fought for the stability of the party during its crisis period.
“Ayu and his cohorts should accept the fact that Wike is a hero of democracy. Nyesom Wike fought the APC and is fighting the feudalists in the PDP,” Adeleke concluded.
