Director of Strategic Communication, All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Dele Alake, has said that none of the presidential candidates can match Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s performance in and out of government.
Tinubu, who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Alake, recorded many feats.
Alake, a former commissioner under Tinubu, said this while featuring in Channels Politics Today.
He said a 30-minute documentary on Tinubu, the production of which he directed, cannot be faulted in any way.
He said those trying to rubbish the documentary were envious, jealous, or fearful of the person and achievements of Tinubu, adding that the former governor did a lot to make Lagos what it is today.
He said those who want to counter the facts in the documentary should be specific rather than generalising their criticisms.
The evidence of Tinubu’s achievements, according to Alake, speaks volumes and some of them were captured in the documentary.
Alake said judging from Tinubu’s achievements, none of the other presidential candidates can match the achievements of Tinubu in his life endeavour.
“Nobody can deny the place of Bola Tinubu in the scheme of modern Lagos. I am personally very happy that that documentary has generated reviews and the devastating effect against the opponents such that they have a way to denigrate it. This is because that documentary has been factual.
“I directed that documentary. There is nothing that the documentary said that Bola Tinubu achieved in Lagos that I did not personally witness.
“It was not happenstance but I took part in the conceptualisation and monitoring of those projects.
“So, I speak with conviction; I speak with utmost integrity and credibility when I say that the documentary has been very factual.
“The documentary has been so fair because this documentary has been aired on Channels at least twice.
“The documentary never said anywhere that Bola Tinubu founded Lagos. That is educational laziness and deficiency.
“Now, I want anybody to bring out a specific aspect of that documentary and challenge it with authenticity and credibility. Is it the Bar Beach, which you all have seen in the video clip, what it was pre-1999?
“Tinubu envisioned what is now today standing as an icon in Nigeria and that is Eko Atlantic. That is converting liability into an asset.
“It only takes a man of vision, knowledge and courage to be able to accomplish that. None of the contending candidates of the other parties can point to a vision that has translated into Eko Atlantic and that is not the only one.”
The Director also said it was a total falsehood for anybody to claim that Tinubu owns the Oriental Hotel in Lagos and the Alpha Beta.
While Oriental Hotel is one of the leading hospitality outfits in Lagos, Alpha Beta is a tax consultant company engaged by the Lagos State government under Tinubu that boosted the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.
He said the creation of Alpha Beta was the first in the history of the country and that the initiative rescued Lagos and also made it stand tall in the comity of states.
According to him, nobody can deny the fact that Tinubu was instrumental in the growth and development of Lagos.
Alake referred those who wish to know the ownership of Alpha Beta and Oriental Hotel to approach the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), saying it was a lazy idea for anybody to tie ownership of these firms to Tinubu.
