After a successful outing in his debut fight in Asia, Nigeria’s Ridwan ‘Scorpion’ Oyekola has been arranged to face another Japanese opponent, Hikaru Fukunaga on Sunday October 2 this year, in an international boxing challenge bout.
The feather weight division fight according to Olusola Ayodele, the CEO of Core Afrique Boxing Promotions (COABOX), firm that is managing Oyekola will take place at Ishikawa Multipurpose Dome, Uruma, Okinawa in Japan during the Mugen Idomu’s volume 18 boxing bouts series.
COABOX boss who is popularly known as Sola Ford further hinted that, Scorpion is in good shape and in a right frame of mind to face the fierce Japanese fighter who has a record of six wins in his nine bouts boxing career.
“The fight is part scheduled bouts arranged to boost the boxing record of Scorpion and better prepared him ahead of a bigger boxing engagement later this year. And I can assured you that he’s in very good state of mind to do Nigeria proud again in the land of Asian” said Ayodele.
He, however, added that COABOX is working hard to give other boxers under its management an international exposure to further enhance their boxing career which will serves as encouragement to Nigerian youths that are aspiring to embrace boxing as a source of livelihood.
Meanwhile, Veteran, Olawale Okunniyi has wished Scorpion a successful outing in the October fight, assuring Nigerians of another fantastic boxing experience from the Ibadan born fighter.
Okunniyi, who was the chairman of the organising committee when Scorpion won his WBF world title belt, disclosed this in Ibadan while addressing speaking with newsmen, saying “the city of Ibadan will soon witness another global boxing event this year, but I won’t let the cat out of the bag yet, until every arrangement is set”.
