The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has given out bursary awards to another set of 100 students from Eruwa and Lanlate sections of the state.
The students were drawn from various higher institutions of learning for the third Oyo Speaker Bursary program.
The program, which was held inside the Eruwa Town Hall was attended by students and political leaders in Ibarapa East state constituency.
Each of the one hundred beneficiaries received #10,000 each at the ceremony
The bursary program which was in continuation of the Education Support Initiative of the Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, is aimed at encouraging learning among the students of higher institutions in the constituency.
While handing over the cash donation to the students, the Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, who was represented by the People Democratic Party (PDP) Oyo South Senatorial Chairman, Hon Gbade Ojelabi, urged the recipients of the bursary to reciprocate the gesture by taking their studies seriously.
“This is the third in the series of the bursary award program organized by the Rt. Hon Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin for students in his constituency. This makes it a total of 300 students that have benefitted from the bursary program. I want to appeal to our students to shun all forms of social vices which could destroy your future ambition. You should be focused as you are the future hope of Ibarapaland.”
The bursary ceremony which was put together by the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Students Affairs, Comrade Ayandele Ayuba Ayobami and was attended by Hon. Bodunde Adeosun, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Special Duties, Pastor Sunday Ilori.
Other PDP stalwarts including Alhaji Kasali Morakinyo, Alhaji Sikiru Adebisi and Local Government Executive Council members were in attendance.
In their remarks, the President, Federation of Eruwa Students Union, FESU, Comrade David Oladiran and the General Secretary, National Association of Lanlate Students (NALS), Comrade Ayansola, appreciated the Speaker for fulfilling his promise of supporting and promoting the education of the youth in the constituency.
