A day after the Federal Government rewarded eminent Nigerians for their services to the nation, a frontline fashion designer, Bashiru Azeez Akande has described Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) national honour bestowed on Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku as a well-deserved one.
Cardinal Odunmbaku, who is a force to reckon with in Lagos politics with his involvement since the days of NADECO fight for the actualisation of June 12 1993 mandate of Chief MKO Abiola, was honoured with the prestigious national honour for his contribution to the development of democracy in Nigeria.
Akande, who is the CEO of Opulence Creation commended the federal government for honouring the Lagos APC Chieftain, ‘Baba Eto’, as Odumbaku is popularly known, saying the astute politician “came, saw and has conquered on many fronts”, adding that he is not just a politician but also a man of God, who runs a church.
The Ibadan based fashion entrepreneur said the Statesman is reputed to be far above his contemporaries as far as the demonstrative ability to combine politics with church ministry is concerned. “He has distinguished himself in this regard within Lagos State and Nigeria at large”.
“Baba Eto is undoubtedly a heavily anointed servant of God; just as he is highly respected for being a consummate politician and unrivalled grassroots mobiliser. He is without doubt a highly gifted cleric who has been using his spiritual gifts for the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ”, Akande noted.
