Organisers of the French topflight, Ligue 1, celebrated Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Terem Moffi, after he netted his ninth goal of the season at the weekend against Paris Saint-Germain.
Moffi cancelled out Neymar’s opener for PSG as he drew Lorient level on 53 minutes with a superb strike which was his third goal in his last four games for his French outfit.
The 23-year-old has now surpassed his tally for last season (eight) and is joint third in the top scorers standing.
And after posting a video of Moffi’s goal on their Twitter handle, Ligue 1 wrote:
⚽️ 3rd top scorer
🎯 9th goal of the season

Moffi left Nigeria to join the Buckswood Football Academy at the age of 17, and thereafter moved to Lithuania with Kauno Žalgiris before eventually joining Riteriai.
Moffi eventually scored 20 goals in 29 leagues games for Riteriai, and transferred to Belgian club Kortrijk in January 2020. On 1 October 2020, he signed with Lorient in the French Ligue 1.
On 14 May 2021, former Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohrincluded Moffi in his 31-man list for friendlies in June and he debuted with the Super Eagles in a 1–0 loss to Cameroon on 4 June 2021.
He has made eighth appearances for the Super Eagles and has scored three goals.
