Former Universal Boxing Champion, Mojeed Okedara who is also the African Action Congress (AAC) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State has decried the worsening security situation in the state calling on the Engineer Seyi Makinde-led administration to act decisively on the menace of armed robbers, kidnappers and ritual killers allegedly tormenting residents of Ibadan; Ogbomoso; Ibarapa and other parts of the state.
Okedara who revealed this while featuring on radio programs in Ibadan over the weekend assured the residents of Oyo State of a secured living if voted as governor in the 2023 general election hinging his optimism on his experiences with many renowned security outfits he had worked with in the United States of America where he had lived for more than two decades.
“The damage done to the security architecture in the state in the last 40 months by this Makinde’s administration is unimaginable and it must stop. This administration has empowered hoodlums by putting them in positions that make them see themselves as important personalities in the society, thereby misusing such powers to the detriment of the citizens.
“Rather than engage and partner relevant stakeholders, the PDP government monopolises the responsibility of coordinating all stakeholders to provide security in the state and the results are evident in the menace of miscreants, armed robbers, land grabbers, political thugs and so on”, Okedara noted.
He added that no investor has been attracted to Oyo state since May 2019 because of the poor security situation in the pace setter State that is supposed to be a good example to others. “This is worrisome to us in AAC and we are not going to fold our arms and be looking at the situation going from bad to worse. I can assure that things will change for the better if I become the Chief Security Officer of this state”, Okedara boasted while fielding questions on air.
