All is now set for this year’s Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Journalism to hold on Thursday in Lagos.
Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Motunrayo Alaka, said investigative journalism has exposed corruption, named and shamed corrupt office holders, hence there is need to amplify works by journalists.
“We’ll be coming together as investigative journalists and as those who love good governance and democracy, to ensure the works of journalists do not get buried and are highlighted,” she said.
Professor of Mass Communication in Lagos State University, Lai Oso, will open the conversation with: ‘Investigative Journalism and Democracy in an Election Season.
On the second day, there will be discussions on how to cover elections in a digital age.
Professor of Mass Communication at University of Lagos and Editorial Board member of The Guardian, Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, and Executive Director, International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundade, will join the discussion.
She said 13 awardees have been shortlisted this year.
