Kayromlee Under-16 Squash Tournament organised as part of activities to mark the 13th anniversary of Kayromlee Gym and Fitness Centre has served-off on Thursday, 8th December inside the indoor squash hall of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
Former zonal coordinator, Federal Ministry of Youths and Sport Development, zone one, Mr. Yemi Usikaye declared the event open with words of encouragement to the participants drawn from Secondary schools within Ibadan metropolis.
Usikaye while making his speech charged the student athletes to keep away from any form of performance enhancement substances, saying there is no short cut to success in sport other than hard work and dedication, while commending the sponsor of the event for her unrelenting support for the development of grassroots sports in Oyo State.
The CEO of Kayromlee Gym and Fitness Centre, Amb. Romoke Ayinde JP in her welcome speech thanked all the organizations that partnered in making the anniversary a successful one, while pledging her continuous support for grassroots sports development which she has agreed to undertake since she partnered the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development 13 years ago.
One of the co-sponsors, Vanguard Pharmacy was on ground to conduct free health-check for all the participants and interested squash enthusiasts. The firm also donated a well-equipped first aid box to the organizer.
The three-day event will come to an end on Saturday 10th when the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, an enthusiast of the game of squash is expected to grace the event and play an exhibition game.
