Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has recalled his beginning as a youngster describing it as a trying time as nobody gave him chance.
Osimhen, who was named the best young player in the Serie A last season said he would remain grateful to those who believe in him, particularly Napoli.
“Now I’m at the top of my shape, I have new goals. To get where I am, I overcame a lot of obstacles. People say I won’t last, but they also said when I was rejected by two teams in Belgium,” he told Omasport.
“You’ll never make it,” they said to me and compared me to players from the past. In football it’s normal. But I’ve never thought about them. I’m playing for one of the biggest European clubs and in one of the best leagues in Europe, I was named “Young Footballer of the Year” and I’m achieving many personal goals. It wasn’t easy if you consider the injury with which I risked my life.
“Yet I came back better than before. That’s why I say thank God. I won against those who didn’t believe in me,” he added.
The Super Eagles striker scored a stunning goal at the weekend during Napoli’s friendly match against Crystal Palace in Turkey.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is expected to lead Napoli’s attack against Villarreal on December 17 at Maradona Stadium while their last friendly this year will be against Lille of France.
