Having spent four years at KRC Genk and played under different managers, Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, has taken a blunt swipe at manager Bernd Storck, describing his former boss a cold and rigid man.

The Nigeria international joined Genk in 2019 from Danish outfit FC Midtjylland and has worked under several managers including Storck and Wouter Vrancken.

In an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws as quoted by Voetbalkrant, the 28-year-old has different observations of the past and current Genk coaches.

While reserving pleasant compliments for his current boss, the Nigerian didn’t spare his former boss as he took a blunt swipe at the 59-year-old manager, who was sacked after just six months in charge of the Smurfs.

“I’m not going to lie about that, Storck had his own way of thinking,” Onuachu was quoted as saying.

“He wanted to do everything himself, rarely consulted his staff or the more experienced players. His will was law. He was cold, nobody dared to be himself, and people felt uncomfortable under him.”

On his current manager, Onuachu said, “Everyone feels good (under Wouter Vrancken).

“It is allowed to laugh once in a while. He makes a joke himself, but without being too indulgent. Once on the field, everyone realizes that they have to work. Vrancken finds the perfect balance between hard work and fun. That is his strength.

“He keeps it simple, step by step. Everyone is involved in the story. This is the best staff I’ve ever worked with in my career.”

Interestingly, up next for Onuachu and Genk in the Jupiler League is the side currently managed by Storck, KV Kortrijk.
