Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has been rated above the English Premier league duo of Norwegian Haaland of Manchester City and English Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspurs for his immense contribution towards Napoli’s quest for the Serie A title.
Osimhen has netted 13 goals from 15 Serie A matches this season and has been listed among the top scorers in Europe alongside Haaland and Kane but the Nigerian was rated higher due to his impact on Napoli’s fortunes in Serie A.
Italian tabloid Gazzetta dello Sport lauded the Nigerian striker in special report devoted to Napoli , emphasizing how the Norwegian centre-forward’s City has not had the same impact in the Premier League where Arsenal are at the top.
“There is a centre-forward in Europe who is second to none,” the paper said. “Victor Osimhen among the top five European league scorers is behind only Erling Haaland (25) and Harry Kane (15) who, however, failed with Manchester City and Tottenham to keep the pace of leaders Arsenal.
“Instead, with the Nigerian, Napoli are not only leading the league but are currently double-digit ahead of their closest pursuers, the Milanese ones who between today and tomorrow must try not to lose further ground.
“Victor has been the all-time best in the last ten league games, with 11 goals and 2 assists,” te paper added.
Meanwhile, Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office has reportedly requested a six-month extension for their investigation into the transfer of Osimhen from Lille to Napoli.
The Nigerian forward joined the Partenopei in September 2020 from the Ligue 1 outfit in a deal worth €72m, plus €10m in various add-ons. The transfer caught the attention of many at the time when it was revealed that around €20m of the deal was made up through player exchanges.
