French Ligue 1 side, OGC Nice have splashed an impressive €30M (about N14,999,508,621.00) to acquire the services of Nigeria International striker, Terem Moffi from FC Lorient, according to French tabloid, Foot Mercato.
This transfer saga came to an end yesterday after weeks of intense negotiations that saw ‘the dark orange and black’ rejecting several offers from both Nice and English Premier League side, West Ham, for the 23-year-old Super Eagles striker.
Penultimate week , Lorient reportedly rejected three offers ranging between €15m (about N7.3 Billion) and €20m ( about N9,976,686,450.00) from Nice while West Ham’ s 15m( about N7.3 Billion) to €25m (about N12.2 Billion) offers were also turned down.
Last Thursday, former French champions Olympique Marseille joined the fray for the Nigerian ace who has been in an impressive form for Lorient in the first part of the Ligue 1 season.
But Foot Mercato confirmed yesterday that Moffi was heading to Allianz Riviera after Nice’s improved seventh offer estimated to the tune of €30M was accepted by Lorient.
“After long negotiations, Merlus and Aiglons managed to come to an agreement,” the French news outlet said matter-of -factly. “ Terem Moffi will play well on the Côte d’Azur.
“Seventh in the Ligue 1 standings , Lorient owed a good part of its excellent first part of the season to its striker Terem Moffi . Author of 12 goals in 18 matches, the 23-year-old Nigerian striker will not finish the season with the Merlus.
“Courted by Olympique de Marseille and OGC Nice, Moffi saw the two southern clubs tearing themselves apart to recruit him.”
Elsewhere, TF1 journalist Saber Desfarges was quoted as saying yesterday that Moffi was already undergoing his medicals at Nice after he was not seen near at Lorient’s training ground in the morning.
Moffi is the second-highest scorer in Ligue 1 this season with 12 goals behind Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappé who has 13 goals hence the long-drawn out transfer battle to get his signature by many clubs.
