A new date has been fixed for the conduct of the 2023 national population and housing census by the Federal Government.
The Chairman of the State Steering Committee for the 2023 census in Ekiti state and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management, Mr Niyi Adebayo disclosed this during the meeting of the committee in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday.
Mr Adebayo, disclosed that the enumeration exercise has been shifted to the 2nd through 7th May 2023 from its initial date of 29th March through 2nd April to allow a hitch free exercise.
The Committee Chairman who said that the postponement of the headcount would allow for proper planning and in-depth preparation, called on members of the committee, particularly the sub-committees to swing into actions in order to make the exercise a huge success in the state.
He said the committee will provide necessary information to the public regarding the exercise.
Population census, conducted last in 2006 in Nigeria, is an exercise that is expected to be conducted once in ten years aimed at having an accurate and up to date data of the people and buildings in a particular geographical location for developmental planning.
