National Democratic Coalition Renewal Group has urged the Directorate of State Security Service to apprehend individuals plotting to install an interim government in the country.
The group said the democratic government should not be allowed to be truncated by anti-democratic forces and irresponsible power mongers, hence, the urgent need to tame the ‘coup plotters’.
The DSS on Wednesday raised the alarm over a plot by some Nigerians to thwart the May 29, 2023 inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and foist an interim government on the country.
But, NADECO Renewal, in a statement by its National Leader, Professor Adeeyo Atilade, said that the DSS should spare no efforts in arresting elements pushing for interim government.
Atilade added that Nigeria cannot afford another dark moment in Nigeria’s political history as it happened in 1993 when undemocratic elements truncated democracy and foist an interim government led by Earnest Shonekan on the country.
He lauded the painstaking and patriotic efforts of the nation’s top security outfit in unearthing the reasonable, felonious and nefarious activities of those behind the plot.
