Villarreal’s coach, Quique Setién has urged Samuel Chukwueze to keep up his momentum following his brilliance in the 2-0 win over Real Sociedad at the weekend.
The Super Eagles striker finished as a finalist for LaLiga Santander’s March Player of the Month award, Chukwueze has reached the next level under Setién.
In his 23 games under the coach, the Nigeria international has scored nine goals and seven assists, compared to two goals and four assists in the 16 appearances under Unai Emery.
However, Setien has praised the Nigerian for his display.
“He (Chukwueze) was already a great player before I arrived. It’s true that sometimes a certain context or running in the side will help, but I already saw him do extraordinary things before I arrived.
“He has maintained a great level of performance and I hope he keeps it up because, on days like today, he’s decisive,” the coach said.
