Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi is holding off signing a new Everton contract until the future of the club is decided, sources have told Football Insider.
Iwobi has held extensive talks with the club over an extension to his current deal but wants to wait until he knows if the club will be in the Premier League next season.
The 26-year-old’s current deal expires in 2024 after he signed from Arsenal in 2019.
Last month, Football Insider revealed that the midfielder’s negotiations with the Toffees over a new contract were progressing well and he was preparing to put pen to paper on an extension.
But Iwobi is now holding off on signing until Everton’s future in the English top flight is decided.
The Super Eagles’ star has been attracting interest from Premier League teams as well as other clubs around Europe.

The Merseyside club still have to face Newcastle United and Man City in their remaining games as they fight for survival in the Premier League.
