A non-governmental organisation, Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Organisation, has listed programmes to mark the posthumous birthday of the late human rights lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi, on April 22.
The Chairman of the organisation, Agunbiade Tunde, said the organisation, founded over 13 years ago, stands to honour Fawehinmi who stood for the rule of law, democracy, human rights and press freedom.
He spoke on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Punch Place, the headquarters of The Punch Nigeria Limited, at Magboro, Ogun State.
He said GAFAMORG’s tradition included marking Fawehinmi’s birthday and the day he passed on with humanitarian activities which included visiting orphanages and providing for the less privileged.
Tunde said this year’s programmes would see the organisation pay a visit to a Down Syndrome foundation after which a lecture would be held in honour of the late legal luminary.
