Former Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard, sent a two-word message to Nigeria’s Super Eagles sensation striker, Taiwo Awoniyi after their victory over Arsenal.
On Saturday night, the hot Nottingham star secured a spot in the English Premier League for Steve Cooper’s team by scoring the game-winning goal which ended Mikel Arteta’s chances of winning the league and gave Manchester City the crown.
After this, the former West Ham United loanee took to his Instagram story to salute the former Union Berlin striker in a patriotic manner for his effort against Arsenal.
The Red’s striker scored for the fifth time in three games with a well-taken attempt in the first half after Morgan Gibbs-White pounced on Martin Odegaard’s poor ball and drove to the heart of Arsenal’s defence to assist Awoniyi with a superb pass.
With the caption “Super Eagle,” which is a nickname for the players who play for the Nigerian national team, Lingard, who was thrilled with the game’s outcome, praised the game’s Man of the Match.
Awoniyi has not appeared for Jose Peseiro’s team since they fell to Algeria 2-1 in September 2022, however. And while he was expected to play for the Super Eagles against Guinea-Bissau, he got injured and missed three months of action.
He is anticipated to get an invitation from the Portuguese coach when the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winners play Sierra Leone in June as a result of his so far good performance.
