The Biodun Oyebanji-led government in Ekiti State has warned residents against drain blockage so as to prevent road flooding across the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Mr Sunday Komolafe gave the warning while interacting with Journalists in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Mr Komolafe who frowned at the attitude, said the act is a great sabotage to the good and lofty efforts of government  at providing motorable and flood-free environment for the people.

‘It is a very bad habit to dump materials such as sand, stones, refuseon drainages. This can sabotage the  good intention of government to providing conducive environment for the people and it can lead to flooding on the road and thereby impede free vehicular movement’ he said

The Permanent Secretary who stressed the commitment of the present administration to the well-being of its citizenry warned perpetrators to desist from such act or face the wrath of the law.

‘I want to sound a note of warning against this act. Government will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute whoever caught with such act’. the PS warned.

While calling on citizens of the state to help government to help them, Engr. Komolafe advised that people should not jettison the warnings issued by experts in the field of meteorology and weather forecast concerning heavy rains and flooding this year.
