Despite Napoli’s insistence on several occasions that their most prized asset, Victor Osimhen, is not for sale, the future of the Nigeria international looks more likely away from the Italian club next season as Paris Saint-Germain have made the striker their top priority.
The French champions have been showing interest in the Napoli striker for quite sometime but Italian publication, Tutto Napoli, on Saturday said Les Parisiens have now made Osimhen their number one target after the striker emerged as potential new manager Julian Nagelsmann’s first request.
According to Tutto Napoli, relations between PSG’s sporting director, Leonardo Campos, and Osimhen’s representatives are excellent and the next few weeks could be the deciding factor in the player’s next club.
“The next few weeks could be hot for Victor Osimhen ‘s future. As collected by the editorial staff of Radio Punto Nuovo, Paris Saint-Germain have set the Nigerian as their top priority for next season’s attack.
“Relations between Parisian DS Campos and the entourage of the blue footballer are excellent, to say the least. And the first skirmishes have been informally approached in recent months.
“The arrival of Julian Nagelsmann is now close to the definitive agreement, even if more than a few details remain to be filed. Sources close to the French club, however, assure us: the name of Osimhen was one of the very first requests of Nagelsmann himself, during the talks with PSG about the market to be carried out in case of signing.”
Osimhen recently helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years and also became the first African to win the Capocannoniere (Serie A Top Scorer Award).
The striker also broke a 14-year jinx of being the first player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic to win the Scudetto and the Capocannoniere same season.
