The lawmaker representing Oluyole state constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo has expressed his readiness to provide free transportation system for the people of his constituency.

The lawmaker said that this is a part of efforts to cushion the sufferings of the people in the constituency, especially the vulnerable populations.

Ilumoka, as the lawmaker is fondly called, disclosed this shortly after he had a meeting with the management of the Oyo State Pace Setter Transport Services under the chairmanship of Hon. Salami Ibrahim (Dikko) in his office.

At the meeting, the duo deliberated on the modalities for the smooth take off of the Omi Tuntun buses that will be conveying the commuters in Oluyole state constituency.

Hon. Waheed Akintayo said that the aim of the scheme which will commence on Monday 7th August, 2023 is to reduce the financial burden on people of the constituency occasioned by petrol subsidy removal.

It would be recalled that the transport fares have been increased in the state and across Nigeria since the federal government announced the removal of petrol subsidy on 29th May, 2023.

Hon. Akintayo stated that the free transport will be plying Muslim to Academy to new garage while its take off is at Meritan Filling Station, Muslim Junction between 6.30am to 8.00am on Mondays.

“This transport palliative is part of my deliberate effort to assist the residents in my constituency in times like this so that the residents can now get to their workplaces without much cost. Since the subsidy was removed, workers spent almost all their earnings on transportation and are left with nothing,” the lawmaker said.

He, therefore, called on the residents to avail themselves of the opportunity of free transport he offered so as to reduce their cost of transportation and getting to work early.
