National Headquarters of Youth Sports Federations of Nigeria, YSFON has announced a one week shift in the commencement of the much anticipated National Under-18 Boys Football Competition tagged “MKO Abiola Cup”.
The national football tournament that was instituted to immortalize the late business Mogul and Pillar of sport in Africa, Bashorun MKO Abiola earlier scheduled for Saturday 19th to 26th August has been postponed to a new date of 25th August to 2nd September, 2023.
This was disclosed via a statement issued by the national body of the organization, and signed by its National Secretary, Patrick Okpavuerhe on behalf of the National Headquarters of Youth Sports Federations of Nigeria YSFON.
Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman, YSFON Ogun State Chapter, Alhaji Waheed Lawal also added that all the zonal teams are expected to arrive at Ijebu-Ode on Friday 25th August, 2023 as all information about the tournament remains unchanged.
Alhaji Lawal maintained that all the matches in the competition will be played at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode within the new set dates while only the final would be held at the MKO Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
He, however, appealed to all expected participants to bear with the organizers on any inconvenience the postponement might have caused, saying the shift was occasioned by some logistical reasons that were aimed towards ensuring a memorable.
