Residents of Omisanjana area of the Ekiti State capital, Ado Ekiti have lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for initiating the reconstruction of Omisanjana Junction to Prudent Filling Station.
A cross section of residents of the area gave the commendation following the removal of unauthorized structures along the proposed road setback in preparation for actual construction works on the road project.
One of the residents of the community, Mrs. Funke Owootomo whose four shops were affected by the project showered encomiums on the Governor for embarking on the road project, stressing that it would bring the much expected succor to residents of the area.
She stated that the project would also positively improve the economy of people living in the area.
“I want to commend Mr Governor for this wonderful initiative even though our four shops were affected but it is a good and welcome development as this will improve the free flow of vehicles and economic activities of this area when completed.”
Another resident of the street, Mr Ojo Olusegun who could not hide his joy expressed appreciation to the Governor saying that the construction of the road would solve the age- long problem of flooding which had plagued the area for several decades.
“In fact we really appreciate Governor Biodun Oyebanji for constructing this road and adjoining drainages. We always witness flooding during any heavy downpour. All these areas are usually flooded causing problems for both residents and passers bye particularly motorists. Now that it is being constructed, it would relieve us of the problem of flooding”. Ojo Olusegun expressed.
Appreciation
Also speaking, a Motorcyclist, Mr. Steven Ajayi who commended the efforts of the State Governor to develop the State and improve the lot of the people, noted that expansion of the hitherto narrow road would curb traffic congestion and incessant motor accidents in the area.
He appealed to those whose structures were affected to endure as the new road would give the community a new lease of life
In a related development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Independent Project Monitoring, Mr Olufemi Ajayi has charged the contractor handling the project to abide by the project specification and also expedite action so that the project can be completed on time
Commenting on the quality of the work done, Mr Ajayi commended the contractor for using quality materials stressing that the present administration would not comprise standards as it places premium on quality projects that would stand the test of time.
Speaking on the removal of the illegal structures, Mr Ajayi said it was a step taken by the state government to ensure a seem less commencement of construction works on the project as well as provide a conducive environment for the people of the area,
He said the present government accorded priority to wellbeing of its citizenry and would continue to embark on meaningful policies and projects which would impact positively on the lives of the people.
