The Police have assured it will conduct a thorough inquiry into the death of late artist, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as MohBad.
MohBad, who died on Tuesday, reportedly submitted a petition against Sam Larry few months ago.
The Police revealed plan to investigate his demise on Thursday in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) while also extending condolences to the family, friends and fans of the deceased.
The Police said: “We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, who tragically passed away recently.
“We understand the concerns surrounding his untimely demise and the various speculations that have arisen.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to a comprehensive investigation into this matter, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been tasked to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death. Rest assured, updates will be provided as investigations unfold.
“The police have also urged family members or close friends of the late Afrobeats singer who have vital information to contact the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to aid with this investigation.
“In the meantime, we kindly request that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation. Your trust and support are deeply valued.”
There has been outrage over the death of Mohbad with some netizens pointing fingers at his former record label, Marlian Records’ owner, Naira Marley as well as Sam Larry.
This became heated after it was revealed on X that Mohbad alleged that Sam Larry led assault and threat to his life at a music video shoot in a letter dated June 27, 2023.
