Oyo State’s Mother of Sports, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde has concluded a plan to unveil the game of Netball at the grassroots in the state with the aim of introducing the rudiments and technicalities of the game to girls from secondary schools.
Amb. Ayinde who is the CEO Kayromlee Nig Limited has been a principal partner with the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, South/West zone one, on grassroots sports development for the past 13 years with many proven commendable track records.
Ayinde, while speaking with the sporting press in Ibadan said the National Federation of Netball in Nigeria has provided Oyo State with all necessary equipment such as Balls, Bib Bags, Bibs Coaching, Colour Bands, Markers, Nets Posts and Rings, Post Padding and others to enable easy takeoff of the game in the state.
“Soon we shall announce a date for the unveiling after securing a court within the stadium environment, schools and community playing grounds where all the facilities will be erected and all necessary awareness for the game is in place.
“All our efforts are to develop the game right from the grassroots in Nigeria, as I can confirm to you that the game of Netball is played by more than 20 million people in more than 80 countries worldwide and is most popular in Commonwealth nations. It is predominantly played by women.” Said Ayinde whose firm has been consistently supporting grassroots sports within the South/West States of Nigeria.
