Former members of the defunct Zenith Labour Party in Oyo state, have appealed to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde to consider them for political appointments.
The group made the appeal in Ibadan, the state capital, via a statement issued during the week after its stakeholders’ meeting
A statement by its chairman and secretary, Comrade Wole Abisoye and Mr Sulaimon Oladokun respectively, disclosed that “this request was borne out of Governor Makinde’s promise to avail the group with political slots in his second term.”
The statement also noted that its consideration for political appointments would bring about inclusiveness and political balancing in the administration of Gov. Makinde.
“We passionately appeal to our amiable governor to avail our group political appointments in his second term in office to make us have a sense of belonging both in the party and his administration,” the statement read in part.
“Now, that the election is over, and many appointments already made, we appeal to Governor Makinde to graciously consider us when making new appointments in due time,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, in a communique released, the group commended the governor for disappointing and disgracing the doubting Thomases by continuing the good works he had started since his first term in office.
“On this note, the group seeks to be part of success story of the governor in his second term by being part of his administration at all levels of governance.
Moreover, we commend the governor for carefully putting in place a formidable team to work with him, thus manifesting his philosophy of excellence for the development of Oyo State”, the communique stated.
