Kayrom Lee, SAO Petroleum Partner To Resuscitate Netball In Oyo State

Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, the chairperson, Netball Association, Oyo state chapter and SAO petroleum have concluded plans to unveil netball game at the grassroots level in the state.

Ayinde who is also the CEO, Kayromlee Nigeria Limited has been a principal partner with the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sport Development, South West Zone with proven records of accomplishments.

The unveiling and exhibition match to kick start the game has been scheduled to hold on Wednesday 18th October with over 100 schools set to be in attendance.

Ambassador Ayinde further stated that the event, which will incidentally take place on her birthday, will also witness the launch of a laboratory for science students in Oyo state.

This was revealed during a press conference held on Thursday in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.

She further stated that all is set to reactivate netball game in Oyo state and Nigeria, which has suffered setback since 1973 while affirming that the revival of the game, will help to encourage more participation of the girl-child in sports.

She further added that the sport will provide job opportunities for youths and will help to reduce crime in the society.

Help For Nigerians

The chairperson, however, stated that the game will help Nigerians to compete favorably with their counterparts when fully in operation.

She said, “It is with great pleasure that I stand before you to inform you of our noble objective geared towards reactivating the game of netball in our country.

“Of course, we all know that the game has been in the doldrums since 1973 when it was rested either by omission or commission. It may interest you to know that netball is an international game, which has brought many people who had been poor to opulence and limelight.

Adding, the Chairman, SAO Petroleum, Salmon Akanni Oladiti further affirmed the commitment of his organization to give back to the society as part of its corporate social responsibility while promising to give full support to the success of the game in the state.

He said, “SAO has come of age to give back to the society, we started small and the community has done well for us. We are proud to give our support to this noble project and to help the talented ones in a way to take them to the next level”.

Speaking further, Lanre Akanji revealed that the addition of netball game to the country’s sporting activities will make Nigeria to regain her superiority among other sports-friendly nations of the world.
