Makinde’s Govt Assesses 351 PHCs To Enhance Functionality

Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde’s government in Oyo State has carried out a comprehensive assessment on no fewer than 351 primary health centers in the State to enhance their functionalities.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi made this known on Friday during a handover of the report in Ibadan.

She explained that the comprehensive assessment was carried out in collaboration with a non-governmental organization; First Health Dynamic Synergy International Limited (FHDSIL), to improve the quality of service delivery at each Primary Healthcare Center, in the 351 wards across the State.

Dr. Ajetunmobi hinted that the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration had shown unflinching commitment to the health sector, prioritizing primary health care due to its closeness to the people at grassroots.

She promised that the ministry will peruse the report and meet with the contractors on the project done so far in all the Three Hundred and Fifty One Primary Health Centers in the State.

She maintained that the report will enable the ministry to have the status of all the Three Hundred and Fifty One Primary Health Centers nominated for renovation, so as to move to the next phase.

According to her, “We all know that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde is passionate about Primary Health Care because it is easily accessible to the citizenry of the state, and wants everybody to remain healthy.

“On this note, we are going to look at the work that had been done in all our Primary Health Facilities and reconfirm with the Contractors that handled the projects. This will enable us know the current status of these primary health care centers and move to the next phase.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, FHDSIL, Professor Temitope Alonge the assessment is part of efforts to revitalize the Primary Health Care system in Oyo State.

Prof. Alonge said that the Company received an approval in April 2022 from the Oyo State Government for partnership in optimizing healthcare services for citizens of Oyo State.

He explained that the project was completed in May 2023 and the report submitted to the office of Executive Governor of Oyo State.

Alonge added that the observations and recommendations from the report gave birth to the Stakeholders Meeting that was held in July 2023 to review the report.

He maintained that report as at the time of assessment by First Health Dynamic Synergy International Limited, the PHCs nominated for renovation in the Thirty -Three Local Government Areas of Oyo were presented with pictures and observations according to the local Government Areas where they were located.
