The leadership of Photojournalists Association of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter paid a courtesy visit to two patrons of the association on Wednesday January 24th, 2024.
The team led by the chairman, Princess Alaba Igbaroola visited its patron and former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba in his residence at Bourdillion, Ikoyi in Lagos.
During the visit, Secretary of PJAN, Kazeem Bakenne introduced the new Exco and leaders who were part of the entourage.
The chairman of PJAN, Princess Alaba Igbaroola intimated the patron of the association about the programs lined up for the year 2024, aimed at improving the standard of the profession for both practitioners and youths who are interested in taking up the vocation.
In his response, Aremo Olusegun Osoba stated, “I am very excited, you have transition of power to the present Excos” According to him, this shows respect for members and wishes of the association members.
The former governor described photojournalism as the most accurate and authentic arm of media profession and stated that is why he would continue to support and appreciate Photojournalists everywhere.
The APC chieftain further stated that he had never seen any libel instituted against Photojournalists because of their factual reporting and that’s why he would continue to love them.
The former governor congratulated Princess Alaba Igbaroola and wished her Exco led administration of landmark success and achievements.
The team also visited another patron, Dayo Adedayo who is putting up the largest photography museum in Africa.
In his response, Dayo Adedayo expressed gratitude to PJAN team led by Princess Alaba Igbaroola and promised to continue to support the association.
Adedayo also reiterated his resolve to make photography a well remunerated profession in Nigeria through aggressive marketing of their works to the international market through the new museum, aptly named “The Experience Centre”.
About the intended training for Nigerian Photojournalists, the founder of Dayo Adedayo Photography Ltd., reiterated his commitment to the association. He noted that he would hold the training for the association soon but pleaded for more time to prepare adequately.
According to Mr Adedayo, the training also requires the services of other professional trainers. Therefore, he pleaded with PJAN to exercise little patience as the training would be done soon.
Among the leaders and new Exco members on the visit included, Abiodun Omotosho, Adebanjo Adeleke, Paul Timothy, former PJAN chairman Ademola Akinlabi, Sunday Adedeji, Akinola Ariyo and Kolawole Ariyo.
