The National President of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC), Prince Vincent Okumagba has congratulated the Super Eagles and the Nigeria Football Federations (NFF) over the qualification of the National team for the knockout stages of the on-going AFCON Cote d’Ivoire following their win over Guinea-Bissau in their final group match on the 24th.
Reacting after the match, Okumagba who doubles as the Vice President of Africa’s Football Supporter’s body said Super Eagles are still in the race for the trophy. “I believe they will get better from now on.”
He added that “this year’s AFCON looks very unusual as no one is sure of any country coming up as clear favorites. Look at what happened to the host country, it lost two important games in a row.”
Okumagba who led about 2,000 of his members to Abidjan to cheer the Nigerian national team said other so called ‘super’ powers in African football have been misfiring so far, stressing that this should be a consolation for us for making it into the round of 16.
He, however, cautioned that from now on, there is no margin for error. “I hope that our massive support will propel them to the finals and win the cup. Let’s do it again.”
