Taoheed Adedoja Tasked To Head Edo APC Guber Screening Committee

Ahead of the February 17 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Edo state, former minister of sports and special duties, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja would head the screening committee of the twelve aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket.

The 7-man committee will be inaugurated on Thursday, February 8, at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja.

A statement issued by the national organising secretary of the party, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammadu Arugungu, in Abuja on Wednesday, February 7, showed that the 5-man screening appeal committee will equally be inaugurated.

The appeal committee is headed by Sen. Ibrahim Danbaba and Smart Iheazor will serve as secretary.

Members of the screening committee include, Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Hon. Adeoye Adelakum, Prince Darlington Dick, Lawal Abdullahi Kenken, Margaret Duru and Sani Danjuma will serve as Secretary

The members of the Screening Appeal Committee are Hon. Bisi Odewumi, Ngozi Ononiwu and Hon. Abu Bakar Sidiq.

Meanwhile, at the close of submission of expression of interest and nomination forms on Wednesday, our correspondent confirmed from the Directorate of Organization that all the 12 aspirants who purchased the forms returned their duly completed forms.

Top on the list of aspirants is the former minister of state, national economic planning, Prince Clem Agba, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who currently represents Edo Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, former deputy governor, Hon. Lucky Imasuen, member representing Etsako Federal Constituency, Hon. Anamero Sunday Dekeri, and former APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Andrew Ize-Iyamu.

Others are Engr. Gideon Ikhine, the immediate past state chairman of APC, Col. David Onabure Imuse, Major General Charles Airhiavbere (Rtd), Hon. Emmanuel Momoh, former Zonal Organising Secretary (South-South),  Blessing Agbohmere, member representing Ovia South/West-Ovia North/East Federal Constituency, Hon. Dennis Idahosa and  Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe

The schedule of activities and timetables for the 2024 Edo State Governorship Election by the party showed that the screening is billed to commence after the inauguration and will run until Friday 9th February 2024.

The delegates’ congress is fixed for Saturday 10th February and the party primary for the emergence of the party flag bearer will be held on Saturday 17th February 2024.

The party has also fixed the 24th of April for the commencement of the campaign by its standard bearer.
