Former England national football coach, Fabio Capello has admitted that Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen is irreplaceable amid speculation linking him with a departure from the Diego Maradona Stadium in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea were thought to be frontrunners for the signature of the reigning African Footballer of the Year but Financial Fair Play penalties could present a significant stumbling block in completing the transfer.
In recent weeks, Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the Golden Boot winner of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup.
The Red Devils were linked with a move for Osimhen last summer but it appears they were priced out of a move and brought in Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
French Ligue 1 moneybags, Paris Saint-Germain have identified the Napoli striker as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe who looks to be heading to Real Madrid in the off-season.
Napoli have begun searching for a player capable of stepping into Osimhen’s shoes and have been linked with two Nigerian strikers in Victor Boniface and Joshua Zirkzee.
Speaking to Il Mattino via Area Napoli, Capello stated: “How do you replace Osimhen next year? Million dollar question, there are no players around to replace Osimhen. You would have to have a crystal ball to find him”
Osimhen finished in fifth place at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023, behind Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne.
