MCF At 40: The Fellowship Has Surpassed Expectations- Methodist Prelate

The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Oliver Ali Aba has revealed that the campus-based fellowship of the church established at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1984 has grown in leaps and bounds in the last four decades.

He stated this during the 40th year anniversary flag off ceremony of the fellowship in Yaba, Lagos recently.

He further revealed that the fellowship has contributed to the development of the church financially, numerically and spiritually while revealing that the fellowship, which started from one chapter, had grown to 120 chapters with over 5,000 members.

The Prelate said, “In the last 40 years, the Methodist Campus Fellowship has grown from a one-chapter fellowship at the then Obafemi Awolowo University to about 120 chapters with about 5,000 members, comprising both Methodist and non-Methodists.

“The Methodist Campus Fellowship spreads all over the tertiary institutions in the East, West, and Northern parts of the country; indeed, the fellowship is waxing stronger and stronger in the Lord.”

Speaking, the Bishop of Evangelism Rt. Rev. Inyang Efiong promised that attachment of schools to each diocese would be reviewed following the creation of new dioceses and MCF chapters revealing that expedite actions will be taken on the matter.

Adding, the MCF National Minister, Revd. Olomola Olalekan further appreciated the church leadership for her support over the years while appealing for more financial support from the church in order to fulfill its obligations as a fellowship.

Present at the event included the Secretary of Conference, Rt. Rev. Babatunde Taiwo, the Conference youth work coordinator, Very Rev. Gilbert Madu, Conference media director, Very Rev. Opeyemi Awe, the National President of the Alumni body, Engr. Nwinmene Lucky Migah, the Chairman 40th anniversary planning committee Engr. Olufemi Ogunniran among others.
