Nigerian Governments at all levels have been enjoined to always put the interest of workers at the fore front of their agenda.
A renowned religion leader and founder of a non-governmental organization, Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, Arc Hassan Giwa, made the call in his message to celebrate the annual Workers’ Day.
Arc Giwa described workers as the bedrock of a nation, which their invaluable contributions should not go unrecognized.
He called for a system in the country where the interest of workers will be championed with respect to make them empowered and fulfilled in their choice of career.
Giwa charged workers in the country to remain committed and dedicated to their work to change the fortune of the country to better.
“Workers are the bedrock of every nation, their interests must be championed with respect. It is important that governments at all levels recognize their contributions to make them feel fulfilled in their choice of professions.
“I want to congratulate all workers in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration. I want to appeal to them all to remain committed and dedicated to the course of the country. They have been playing a very pivotal role over the years, they should continue and I pray that their efforts will not go uncelebrated.”
Arc Hassan Giwa also used the opportunity to call on the federal government particularly the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited to as a matter of urgency address the issue of rising price of petrol in the country.
He said that the scarcity and hiking in the price of the product has been making life more difficult for the people in the country.
