The Chairman of Akinyele Local Government in Oyo State, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye has held a town hall meeting with traditional rulers over improved security within the council area.
This is in his bid to uphold safety and secured environment where life and properties will be adequately protected.
Hon. Akinwole Akinleye expressed the readiness of his administration to be proactive on issue of security of life and property of the people.
The Chairman maintained that he will not fold his arms rather ensure adequate security and freedom from external oppression.
Hon. Akinleye further stressed that, the local government comprises of mixed ethic groups and commercial hub of Ibadan land, in which every stakeholder must be conscious of security.
He noted that “we must work together on how to tackle it strategically in order to ensure a society where citizens can sleep with their eyes closed”.
Akinleye urged all the traditional rulers to uphold their statutory position with dignity and not to see their positions as a means of enriching themselves rather be bold and courageous to combat any security situation in their respective domain.
He noted that his administration is ready to collaborate with all agencies involved on security matter to achieve a desired Akinyele Local Government where more investors can come in for economic growth and development.
The Chairman further stressed that, Obas and Baales should avoid selling lands to people with questionable characters in order not to jeopardize the security architecture of the communities and the entire council area.
In their separate remarks, the Oniroko of Irokoland, Oba Ismaila Olasunkanmi and Alakinyele of Akinyele, Oba James Oluyemi Odeniran (JP), on behalf of the traditional council and Baales, appreciated the good gesture of the Executive Chairman and his team for the laudable initiative and pledging their loyalty and support where necessary to maintain peace and curb the menace of anti-societal behavior.
Those in attendance included the Leader of the Legislative Arms of Akinyele Chamber, Hon. Rafiu Kolawole and other Councilors from all the wards in Akinyele Local Government, Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Dele Busari, Director of Administration and General Services, Alhaji Musibau Ladele.
