The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the State College of Nursing and Midwifery further Amendment bill into law.
The bill was passed into law on Thursday at the resumed plenary of the state Assembly after a two-month recess.
It scaled the third reading following the presentation of the report of the joint Committees on Health, Nutrition and Food Security and Education (Tertiary) Institutions, Science and Technology read by Hon. Rilwan Gbadamosi Saminu representing Saki East and Atisbo state constituency.
With the amendment, the name of the College has changed from Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery to Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences.
The Chairman, Committees on Health, Nutrition and Food Security, Hon. Rilwan Gbadamosi Saminu, said that the amendment was aimed equally at expanding the scope of the College to allow its graduates to go for the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps program.
According to him, it is also to give constitutional backing to the creation of satellite campuses for the College, among other amendments.
