Omoyele Sowore, prominent human rights activist and politician has hit back at critics who have been accusing him of not bringing in his family from his United States’ base to participate in protests in Nigeria.

Sowore said those who normally make this allegation against him are not fair to him.

The politician who spoke in Yoruba gave these submissions on Sunday morning while featuring on a popular Fresh 105.9fm radio show monitored by PMParrot in Ibadan.

Said Sowore “I do not have anything to hide. Coming out to fight for the rights of Nigeria is a personal conviction; it is an assignment that I am in this world to carry out. My conscience will not rest if I do not do this.

    Loss Of My Brother

“Those saying I do not bring in my family to join protests here in Nigeria are just looking for something to say and a way to accuse me. My daughter is 17 years old and she is also out there in the US doing her own peculiar protest. Go online and confirm that. The other time, I lost a brother, let them come and donate their relatives too.

“Moreover, I was busy with human rights activities to the extent that I almost forgot to settle down, and when I did, I found my wife in the US and we have been staying there. That is their own base. I am a full Nigerian and this is what I have been doing since I was a student, since 1989.

“I will also add that those who are sending people to criticize me also have children. Do they send out their children to join protests too?

“In 2012 when we were protesting against Jonathan and others, did Tinubu bring Seyi, his son along? We did not know that Buhari had a son until he had an unfortunate accident.”

Sowore also used the opportunity to reaffirm that the October 1, 2024 protests being planned will hold across the whole of Nigeria.
