Popular gospel singer, Evangelist Tope Alabi has expressed concerns about the growing rivalry and “fake love” among fellow gospel artists.
While performing at the ‘Celebrating Jesus 7.0’ concert in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, she emphasised the need for unity and support between established and emerging artists.
Alabi lamented that the level of jealousy and bitter rivalries among her peers has gotten out of hand, noting that senior colleagues are not only separated from upcoming artists but also fight among themselves, setting a bad example for the younger generation.
Tope Alabi reminded fellow artists that they will be held accountable by God for their actions, urging them to prioritise their legacy and accountability before God over fame and success.
According to her, the rivalry and negativity among established artists are being emulated by emerging artists, who are already against each other and “backstabbing” one another.
She emphasised that this behavior is not a true reflection of the gospel music community.
According to her: “It is wrong to see each other and smile then go behind to say bad things about one another.
“God will hold us accountable for these things. Let us stop it. It is high time we know that we are working for the kingdom and not for ourselves or fame. The bigger ones separated themselves from the up and coming. And yet the bigger ones still fight themselves again, what do you want those coming up to do?
“The emerging ones are already against each other. These children coming up are already backstabbing and emulating us because we started it. They are enemies to each other and smile with one another, they are faking it. This is getting out of hand and God will ask us.”
She also used the opportunity to appreciate her husband, Soji Alabi, children and all her fans globally.
