The Executive Director of the Institute for Environment Research and Development (IERD) and former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Caleb University, Lagos, Prof. Adedeji Daramola, has congratulated Dr. Obuks Ejohwomu for receiving the Project Management Education Award at the 2024 IEOM Awards in Sydney, Australia on September 26, 2024.
During the prestigious 3rd Australian Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM), held in Sydney from September 24-26, 2024, Dr. Obuks Ejohwomu, a Reader in Sustainable Built Environment and Project Management at The University of Manchester, UK, was honored with the esteemed Project Management Education Award.
This award highlighted Dr. Ejohwomu’s significant contributions to advancing project management education and research, particularly through the integration of sustainability and innovation into project management frameworks. His pioneering work continues to shape the future of project management education, bridging the gap between academic rigor and real-world application in the built environment.
Dr. Ejohwomu, a Nigeria-born and UK-based scholar, serves as an External Examiner/Assessor and Associate for over fifteen universities worldwide, including the University of Lincoln, Bedfordshire, West of England, Bristol, Wolverhampton, University of Johannesburg, and Caleb University in Nigeria. He is recognized as one of Manchester’s Heritage Heroes for his impactful research. Dr. Ejohwomu is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and leads the commercial and procurement management unit.
Among his many accolades, Dr. Ejohwomu received the Better World Showcase 2022 award for his outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability and was recognized for his notable efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. He has managed grants worth over GBP £1.3 million from prestigious funders like EPSRC, Association of Project Management (APM), GCRF, Lloyds Register Foundation, NHS Foundation Trust, and UKRI. He is the principal investigator on a high-impact multidisciplinary research project, SQUARE, which investigates the societal value of quality low-cost urban air monitoring in low-resource environments.
The 2024 IEOM Awards celebrate global leaders and innovators in industrial engineering, operations management, and related fields. Dr. Ejohwomu’s commitment to excellence and his impact on the project management discipline have set new benchmarks in education and research.

Dr. Obuks Ejohwomu is currently a Reader (Associate Professor) in the School of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Manchester. He is also the Head of Admissions in the School of Engineering
