Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, will play host to eminent personalities in Africa’s sports industry as Nigerian football icon, Dr Felix Owolabi (MON) gets ready to celebrate his 70th birthday anniversary in grand style.
The event, which is scheduled to hold on Sunday, November 24, at Bollad Event Centre, Challenge Akala Expressway, Ibadan, will attract eminent Nigerians, including his mates at both the Green Eagles, who won the 1980 Africa Nation Cup of Nations for the first time for Nigeria, and top members of Nigeria’s soccer circle, among many others.
“We have concluded all arrangements to ensure that our distinguished guests enjoy themselves on that day. Security arrangement is tight and all those involved with the planning will be at their best, said Dr Owolabi told PMParrot in an interview.
Owolabi who used to be called ‘OwoBlow’ was a member of the Green Eagles squad Nigeria at the 1978 African Cup of Nations and at the 1980 Summer Olympics. He is also a holder of a doctorate degree in physical education. He played for Kaduna Rocks (of Kaduna), Raccah Rovers of Kano, and the IICC Shooting Stars (of Ibadan).
He was with the Oluyole Warriors for 15 years, during which, in 1992, he helped the club win the CAF Cup (now known as the CAF Confederation Cup).
