Victims of January 2024 explosion incident in Bodija, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State have called on the state government to come through with its planned support for them to rebuild their homes so that they can resume their normal way of lives.
Speaking on their behalf, the President of Bodija Estate Residents’ Association, Pastor Muyiwa Bamgbose acknowledged the urgency with which the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration attended to the matter when it occurred saying that the governor sought to resolve all outstanding issues of monetary support for victims whose houses have been destroyed by the explosion that occurred at Dejo Oyelese Close, Bodija, Ibadan on January 16, 2024.
He said that Governor Makinde, through some of his aides had indicated that the Federal Government had sent an undisclosed amount to support victims of the blast and that this amount would be supplemented by the state government.
However, according to Pastor Bamgbose, “some significant time has passed and the said support is yet to arrive, we are praying that this support will not get sucked into another year or some other project.
“We have been patiently waiting all this while. We want the government to come through with its planned support for our members,” he said.
