Napoli director, Giovanni Manna has dismissed reports of a January move for Victor Osimhen, insisting no club has approached them about activating the striker’s €75m release clause.
“I already said many times that nobody has talked to us. Victor is owned by Napoli and currently playing for Galatasaray. I think a lot has been said about this, nothing is happening,” Manna told DAZN.
The Nigeria international has been in impressive form since joining Galatasaray on loan, netting 10 goals and providing five assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.
His contributions have helped the Turkish giants maintain a six-point lead at the top of the Super Lig with 38 points from 14 matches.
Recent reports suggested that Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United were considering triggering Osimhen’s release clause in January, with PSG reportedly viewing the 25-year-old as a potential solution to their attacking woes under Luis Enrique.
According to RMC Sport journalist Daniel Rioli, PSG’s interest in Osimhen could force French forward Randal Kolo Muani towards the exit door, with RB Leipzig showing interest in the striker who has managed just two goals in 425 minutes this season.
The French champions had previously shown interest in Osimhen, reportedly tabling a €100m bid following his heroics in Napoli’s Serie A triumph last season. They were also linked with the striker last summer as a potential replacement for Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappe.
However, Napoli’s sporting director maintains the club’s focus is elsewhere.
“We made a lot of investments over the summer, if it should be needed, we would be ready to make more. We are concentrated on our campaign, if there is an opportunity to improve the squad, then we will take it, but that is not our priority right now,” Manna added.
Osimhen’s latest goal came in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory at Sivasspor, where he converted a first-half penalty to help the Istanbul club maintain their push for a third consecutive league title.
The Super Eagles striker has been a key figure for the Turkish side since his arrival, with his goalscoring prowess and creative abilities making him an integral part of their domestic campaign.
