The police in Rivers state have arrested five suspects allegedly involved in a “One-chance” operation in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The Surveillance Patrol Team attached to the Hyper City Unit of the Rivers State Police Command under CP Olugbenga Adepoju, effected the arrest on January 28.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the development on Wednesday said the team was on a patrol along NLNG Road, Eastern Bypass, Port Harcourt, when it received a distress call from a victim, a female resident of Federal Housing Estate, Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt.

She said the victim reported that her phone had been stolen by the occupants of a green Volkswagen Vento saloon car with registration number ANAMBRA FGG 40 AA.

In a swift action, the team intercepted the vehicle and arrested the suspects identified as Ifeanyi Ugo, Paulina Ibe, Nneka Precious Sunday, Christopher Ibe, and Oyinyechi Ibe.

The PPRO said preliminary investigation was ongoing and that the recovered vehicle was currently in police custody.

She said the command remained committed to tackling the menace of “One Chance” criminals disguising themselves as tricycle and taxi operators to rob unsuspecting passengers.
