Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon has sparked speculation over his future at FC Nantes after posting an emotional message, hinting at a potential departure from the club he has served for the past five years.
The 29-year-old forward, who has just wrapped up a stellar campaign with Les Canaris, made his sentiments known in a heartfelt post on X, reflecting on what he described as a special season in his career.
“This season comes to an end, and it will forever remain etched in my heart,” Simon wrote.
“It has been particularly special for me, as I had the honour of reaching 201 appearances for this legendary club that I hold so dearly. All of this has been possible through God and you, @FCNantes.”
Simon’s remarks come amid increasing transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Nantes in the summer transfer window.
Premier League side Everton are reportedly in the chase for the Nigerian international, having dispatched scouts to monitor his performances as far back as April, according to Africafoot.
The winger, who is said to be open to a new challenge, has reportedly instructed his representatives to facilitate a move to England. Although Nantes are not expected to obstruct his departure, the club is believed to be demanding at least €15m to part ways with the former Levante man, who is currently valued at €12m by Transfermarkt.
Despite Nantes finishing a disappointing 13th in Ligue 1, narrowly avoiding relegation, Simon was a standout performer. He featured in 32 league matches, contributing eight goals and ten assists.
He also ended the campaign as the league’s most prolific dribbler, registering 65 successful take-ons, five more than his closest challenger, Gaetan Perrin of Auxerre.
Simon’s 200th and 201st appearances for the club came in the final weeks of the season, a milestone he cherished deeply in his X post.
His influence was particularly vital in a turbulent season that saw Nantes win just eight of their 34 matches, drawing 12 and losing 14. The team scored 39 goals and conceded 52, finishing just three points above the relegation zone.
