President Bola Tinubu on Monday joined others to congratulate the Chairperson of Avon Healthcare Limited, Dr. Awele Elumelu, as she celebrates her 55th birthday.
The President joined family and friends in celebrating the woman he described as a distinguished physician, devoted mother and wife, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, acknowledging her contributions to national development, particularly in the healthcare and empowerment sectors.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Tinubu lauded Elumelu for her achievements and numerous accolades.
He specifically praised her unwavering dedication to improving lives and empowering vulnerable groups.
“The President commends Dr Elumelu for her outstanding achievements and numerous recognitions, highlighting her lifelong commitment to saving lives and empowering women and children,” the statement read.
Tinubu spotlighted her role at Avon Healthcare Limited and as the Founder/CEO of Avon Medical Practice, where she has been instrumental in expanding access to quality healthcare across Nigeria and the African continent, with a particular focus on the underserved.
The President also recalled Elumelu’s significant service as a Private Sector Champion for Immunisation in Africa with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, in 2018.
Through this crucial role, she contributed to reaching over 10 million unimmunised children across the continent, underscoring her global impact in public health.
Beyond her professional and philanthropic endeavours, Tinubu acknowledged Elumelu’s inspiring participation in marathons both in Nigeria and internationally.
He noted that her commitment to physical fitness has motivated countless individuals to embrace healthier lifestyles through exercise and proper diet.
Furthermore, her philanthropic leadership as a Director on the Board of Heirs Holdings and as a Trustee of The Tony Elumelu Foundation was highlighted.
In these capacities, Elumelu continues to empower many Nigerians by providing them with essential entrepreneurial skills and opportunities, fostering a brighter future.
Tinubu concluded his message with a prayer, asking God to grant Elumelu many more years of good health, abundant blessings, and continued success in her service to humanity.
