The Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, a renowned philanthropic organisation based in Ibadan, officially commissioned its new office complex in the Oyo State capital on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

‎The foundation, founded by distinguished architect, businessman, and philanthropist, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Olawale Giwa, has been at the forefront of humanitarian services for over two decades, with significant impact in education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, and community development.

‎The colourful event was chaired by the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and attracted an array of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, community heads, educationists, and top politicians across Lagelu Local Government and Oyo State at large.

In his welcome address, Dr. Giwa, who also holds the Islamic title of Asiwaju Adinni of Oyo State, expressed gratitude to God and appreciated guests for their presence. He especially thanked Chief Adelabu for honoring the event despite his tight national schedule.

‎Reflecting on the foundation’s mission, Dr. Giwa noted that in its 20 years of operation, the HOG Foundation has implemented life-changing programmes such as educational scholarships, vocational training, agricultural schemes, and provided support for widows, the aged, youths, and women across various communities.

‎In a surprise announcement that drew loud applause from guests, Dr. Giwa declared his intention to contest for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat for Lagelu Constituency in the 2027 general election, pledging to bring inclusive and impactful representation to his people.

‎In his remarks, Chief Adebayo Adelabu lauded Dr. Giwa as a complete gentleman, a party loyalist, a dedicated family man, and an uncommon philanthropist.

‎”Kindness to humanity is Godliness. To embody these five traits and still remain humble is worthy of commendation,” Adelabu remarked.

‎He prayed for continued strength and long life for Dr. Giwa, urging well-wishers to support and pray for the visionary philanthropist.

‎Also speaking, the member representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulwasiu Lafisoye Akinmoyede, praised Dr. Giwa’s contributions to the uplift of residents in Lagelu and beyond.

‎He urged him to stay committed to humanitarian services and advised politicians in the area to shun divisiveness and embrace unity for development.

‎Touching on national issues, Hon. Akinmoyede noted that Nigeria is currently experiencing economic challenges due to fuel subsidy removal, but expressed hope that the policy would yield positive outcomes in the long term. He also called on Nigerians to pray for leaders at all levels.

The Father of the Day, Professor Kamil Koyejo, extolled Dr. Giwa’s humility, philanthropic spirit, and political foresight, praying for his continued success in all endeavours.

‎Delivering a lecture, the Grand Imam of Ogbomoso, Sheikh Teliat Yunus Olushina, stressed the importance of servant leadership in politics.

‎According to him, anyone seeking political office must have the capacity and willingness to serve others.

‎“Anyone whose presence in public office does not improve the lives of others cannot claim to have the love of God,” the cleric said.

‎He, therefore, urged political aspirants to reflect on the purpose of leadership. He concluded by offering prayers for Dr. Giwa’s success and divine guidance.
