Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Nnadozie Chiamaka, made an unforgettable start to her Women’s Super League career, earning her first Fan’s Player of the Match (POTM) award following a show-stopping debut against Aston Villa recently.
The Brighton & Hove Albion Women goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in the goalless draw, producing several crucial saves and commanding her penalty area with confidence.
Her performance highlighted her experience and composure, immediately cementing her as Brighton’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Speaking after receiving the award, Nnadozie reflected on her WSL debut with heartfelt enthusiasm.
“I’ve been dreaming of playing in the WSL, and playing it with this great team feels so special. It was a dream come true. A day I’ll never forget in my whole life,” the 24-year-old told Brighton media.
She also praised the fans for their support, describing how their encouragement fueled her performance.
“Yesterday the fans were really cheering me up after the game. They said some really good words to me and encouraged me to keep going.”
Nnadozie’s debut continues a pattern of high-level performances for the Super Falcons star, who has previously excelled at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the Olympic Games.
Her composure, reflexes, and ability to organize Brighton’s defense under pressure make her a key asset for both club and country.
Looking ahead, Nnadozie expressed optimism for the season. “I hope we’ll keep getting better and better. Thank you so much,” she said, underlining her ambition to grow with the team and maintain her high standards.
With this confident start, Nnadozie is set to play a crucial role for Brighton throughout the 2025–26 WSL season, offering leadership, skill, and reliability between the posts.
